Fluid Exchanges
Power Steering
Power steering fluid is used as a hydraulic fluid in modern power steering systems. It is pumped at high pressure to make it easy to control the direction of the vehicle despite the weight over the front wheels. Power steering fluid gradually darkens with contaminants and loses its hydraulic properties as well as effectiveness over time. A power steering flush at the manufacturer’s recommended service interval will protect the seals in the pump and steering rack and prolong the life of both. Power steering systems are easily flushed using our specialized equipment, while you wait. Inspecting your power steering is included with our multi point inspection
Transmission Fluid Exchange
In order to keep your transmission running well, every automobile manufacturer requires changing the fluid at regular intervals. The fluid in your automatic transmission lubricates, cools and is used to create the hydraulic pressure to activate the valves in the transmission which allow smooth shifting.

In this service the transmission exchange machine will be connected to your vehicle's transmission lines. One hose will push about 20 to 25 liters ( your vehicles required amount of new fluid) of new fluid from the clean reservoir and the other hose will drain old fluid from your transmission. This machine uses the vehicle's transmission to perform the service therefore there is no stress put on your transmission during the service. The natural circulation of fluid will completely change the fluid in your transmission, torque converter, transmission cooler lines as well as the transmission cooler. Most shops will only drain the pan and refill only addressing about 30% of the total fluid, our fluid exchange will exchange 100% throughout the entire system.

Please note: A fluid exchange is a good opportunity to change your transmission filter and gasket as well. It varies upon manufacturer but generally recommended to perform a transmission service every 80 000kms, please refer to your manual for recommended service intervals. This can greatly extend the life of your transmission. An inspection is conducted with our multi point inspection.
If your vehicle is a standard transmission you should refer to manual transmission service.
Engine Coolant Exchange
Radiator coolant or anti-freeze, works to combat both heat and cold, ensuring that your engine does not freeze or over-heat and that it operates at its most efficient temperature. Over time, the protective agents of this fluid are weakened leading to rust and corrosion forming in the radiator and engine coolant channels. To prevent these problems, the radiator coolant should be changed at regular service intervals as required by your vehicles manufacturer.

Some manufacturers use long life coolants, extending the service interval, Pennzoil can service both long life and regular coolant in your vehicle. Engine coolant is tested for freeze point and observed for durability with each multi point inspection. We can also test for pH if requested, coolant that looks fine visually, may in fact be forming acids in your engine which degrade the water pump and cause corrosion in your engine and radiator.

During servicing of your cooling system our Trained Staff will use a coolant exchange machine which operates on air pressure. It uses air pressure to open the thermostat and replace the entire systems coolant capacity, including heater core replacing old coolant with new. It is recommended that an engine coolant exchange is done every 50 000kms, please consult with your manual for specific recommended service intervals.

Differential Fluid Exchange
A differential is a gear box that takes the power from the transmission via the engine to drive the wheels for your vehicle. A vehicle that has 4x4 or all wheel drive will have two differentials, one at the front and one at the rear.

Over time and the protective agents and lubricants breakdown. It is very important to keep the bearings and fine gears in the differential adequately lubricated to avoid premature wear of the gears and other components. A technician will note the condition and level with every visit at Pennzoil with our muti point inspection. If towing by the vehicle is done this will shorten the life of the fluid even quicker. It is a good idea to consult with your vehicle's manual for recommended service intervals, but a general rule is 2 years or 50 000kms.

In this service the fluid with be evacuated from the differential housing and replaced with up to 3 liters of warranty approved differential weight oil.
Transfer Case fluid exchange
For the most part, the lube in a part-time transfer case lives a relatively easy life. During normal usage, there is no significant gear reduction occurring in the case, so heat build-up is minimal. Keep in mind, that the fluid is not filtered, and as such there is really no means for trapping wear particles. Additionally, contamination of the fluid can occur in off-road situations, or even through normal usage (condensation being the big enemy here). And if you have a full-time 4WD or AWD system that utilizes clutch packs (such as GM's Autotrac system) or a gear-type limited slip (the Torsen unit that's used in many AWD vehicles), there is an additional level of stress placed on the lubrication.

Consider it a good idea to change the transfer case fluid every 25,000-30,000 miles or 2 years (whichever comes first). If the unit is at least examined for leaks during each oil change, and if the fluid is replaced on your recomended service interval, you've greatly reduced the chance of incurring a problem. Checking your transfer case is a part of our multi point inspection.
Engine Flush
An engine flush can be one of the most important things you can do for the heart of your vehicle. Your engine generates the most amount of heat, works the hardest and need good health. Inside your motor there are many channels and pin hole sized passages that allow for the operating motor to drive oil up, through and around to achieve adequate lubrication. As your engine operates kilometer after kilometer, month after month, year after year these channels and arteries can become clogged with dirt, sludge, metal filings and other contaminates.

Here at Pennzoil we use a specialty formula to break down the sludge and free the hardened build up. We do this by adding the formula to your engine directly prior to an oil change. The agent will run in your motor for 10-12 minutes depending on conditions and will act much like a soap wash or bath to the internal parts of your engine freeing and dislodging contaminates. Once the time is up we will drian the formula leaving a clean motor for the clean oil to be added.

It is recommended that you do this once in the spring and once in the fall. At a minimum...this should be done once a year.
