PCV Valve/Breather Element
The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve helps control pollution from your car by returning crankcase fumes to the engine's intake manifold to be re-burned, this significantly helps engine efficiency. Breather elements function similarly to air filters, filtering outside air into the PCV system. A clogged PCV valve or breather element causes heavy engine sludging, stalling, extensive oil consumption, air filter contamination, increased oil pressure, oil leaks and a lack in performance. The breather element and PCV valve should be inspected every 15000 kms.
Lights
Not only do your vehicle lights allow you see in the dark, but also helps other drivers see you in the day. Your lights on and working at all times when operating your vehicle will significantly lower your risk of an accident. There are several accessories mounted to your engine such as power steering pump, alternator, water pump, air condition compressor. These are all vital components to the operation of you vehicle. The main pulley spun by the crank of the engine provides power via the serpentine belt to all other accessories. If your belt were to break, accessories like your water pump, air conditioning, power steering as well as the power assist for your braking system would cease to work effectively. It is a good idea to replace the belt regularly, between 50000km to 100000km or when it starts to show excessive wear when recommended, to avoid larger problems as a result of poor maintenance, inspect at least once a year.

They are baked in the sun, dragged across rough ice in extreme temperatures, and combating winter road dirt and salt. Pennzoil has stocked many brands over the years but nothing is more tailored to our clients than Rain-x wiper blades.
Battery Inspection
The battery stores energy in chemical form that is released on demand as electricity. The energy is used by the vehicle's ignition system to crank the engine, as well as power the lights or other accessories. Some vehicles come with maintenance fee batteries that have an indicator for inspection. Other batteries have vent caps that can be opened and inspected for adequate levels. Over time with wear batteries can corrode and crack this can also pose larger problems. At Pennzoil a trained staff member will perform this visual inspection and inform you if there are any visible issues that may require your attention.

Tire Rotation
Tire rotation is an essential and a strongly recommended service to increase the life of your tires. By simply changing the position of the tires on the car in the pattern recommended by the manufacturer you can significantly increase the life of your tires. Tires need to be rotated in a pattern according to the type of vehicle. Normally tire manufacturers will publish their preferred method. With some older vehicles and those with directional tires it is okay to change them from front to back and vice versa. This is requires for directional tires.

Tires should be rotated to increase the life of the tire, prevent irregular wear, and allow all four tires to wear out at the same time so they can be replaced with a matching set maintaining consistent traction. At high speeds the vehicle skips and hops and the wheels “toe” in and out changing position. This is a natural and significant factor in irregular wear.

Tires on the front of a front wheel drive car wear twice as fast as tires on the rear of a car. This happens because – the engine's power goes through the front tires on its way to the ground, the front brakes (the front tires) do most of the braking, and the front tires shoulder more of the cornering load. If you left the tires in the same position, the front tires would wear out when the rears were only ½ worn. You would then need to buy two front tires, and you might not be able to match to the rear tires for example. Since tires have differing handling and traction characteristics, for safety and consistent wear, it is best to have them wear equally. Imagine if the front or rear of the vehicle negotiated a puddle at high speed, the reactions would not be the consistent. You may try to correct the result of this over or under compensating for either end of the vehicle's reaction.
As a general rule of thumb depending on conditions rotate every 10 000kms to 15 000kms.
At this time our company is only offering the tire rotation service at our Barrie location.

Tire Balancing
Tire balancing means adding little lead weights to the rim of a wheel to cancel out a heavy area on the exact opposite end of the tire. If the tire has a heavy spot it will cause a vibration when it spins fast, kind or like an unbalanced load in on spin cycle in a washing machine. When the wheel starts to vibrate, the vibration can be felt in the rest of the vehicle as well. People often report this as a steering wheel shaking, or mirror vibration inside the vehicle when driving. This is not a huge concern but should be addressed when you get a chance. The biggest problem other than the obvious discomfort is unnecessary shaking and vibrating of the vehicle will rattle loose parts faster than with less vibration.

At this time our company is only offering the tire rotation service at our Barrie location.

Engine Oil System Cleaning Service
An Engine Oil System Cleaning Service can be one of the most important things you can do for the heart of your vehicle. Your engine parts wears as a result of heat and friction in the best conditions. Over time, as your engine ingest thousands of litres of "fuel" and hundreds of thousands of cubic feet of "air" contaminates get ingested too. Your engine works very hard in it is in your best interest repay it with good health. Inside your motor there are many channels and pin hole sized passages that allow for the operating motor to drive oil up, through and around to achieve adequate lubrication. As your engine operates kilometer after kilometer, month after month, year after year these channels and arteries can become clogged with dirt, sludge, metal filings, varnish and other contaminates.

Pennzoil 10 Minute Oil Change uses a specialty formula and preforms a service to break down the sludge, clean any varnish and release the hardened build up that accumulates over time. We do this by adding the formula to your engine just prior to an engine oil change drain.

It is recommended that you do this once in the spring and once in the fall. At a minimum...this should be done once a year as apart of your preventative maintenance routine.
